Artist Statement

Growing up surrounded by my father’s work as a jeweller, I developed a deep love and respect for the craft from an early age. Jewellery has become my language,  a way to express complex emotions and lived experiences that are often too difficult to put into words.

My work is heavily influenced by the trauma and resilience born from the Iraqi war. Having witnessed its harsh realities, I use my practice to process those memories and transform them into something tangible and reflective. War is toxic, harsh, and unforgiving — an experience that should be learned from, but never repeated.

Creating two vessel pieces was an especially emotional journey for me. They became symbolic containers of memory, grief, and strength, holding space for the unspoken.

I also take pride in using locally sourced stones, and recently began learning how to cut and polish them into cabochons myself. This new skill has been incredibly rewarding, allowing me to turn raw, rough stones into beautiful sculptural elements that carry both personal and material significance.
