Dilani Delpechitra

I am drawn to the beauty in many different precious stones, and they’re often the genesis of the jewellery I create.

Inspired by organic textures in nature, and the repetition in patterns from my heritage, my work aims to strike a balance between these detailed elements, and that of simplistic, understated Bauhaus design. 

I use both lost-wax and traditional fabrication methods, challenging myself to draw upon technical assembly skills to create well-considered designs.

The exploration of how colourful precious stones interact with their settings and surface finishes often influence the evolution of my designs.

I take great delight in seeing an idea develop through the slow and intentional processes of this craft, and this joy is seen reflected in the final piece – tactile, unique and evoking a sense of whimsy.
